Exploding Classic Cars: A Masterpiece Of High-Speed Photography
Fabian Oefner is a Swiss artist who has become well-known for his stunning high-speed photography projects. Recently, he has turned his attention to the world of classic cars with his Hatch and Disintegrating series, which features his signature style with an added twist.
In Disintegrating, Oefner took apart 1950s and 1960s model cars and photographed each individual part. Using needles and string to ensure precise placement, he carefully arranged the thousands of car parts and used beautiful lighting to create the illusion of the automobiles bursting apart in a flash.
By digitally combining the individual images, he created a moment in time that never existed in reality but which captivates the viewer’s imagination.
In Hatch, Oefner was inspired by the idea of a baby bird hatching from an egg and sought to replicate that sensation with a miniature automobile. He created a latex mold of the car’s body and then smashed it onto the top of the vehicle, giving the impression that it was hatching from its own shell.
Oefner’s work challenges our understanding of reality and captures a sense of motion and energy that is truly awe-inspiring. He has received widespread acclaim for his innovative approach to photography and his ability to push the boundaries of what is possible with a camera.
Through his art, Oefner invites us to see the world in a new light and to appreciate the beauty and complexity of even the most ordinary objects.
